Today the Django team is issuing multiple releases -- Django 1.4.18, Django 1.6.10, and Django 1.7.3 -- as part of our security process. These releases are now available on PyPI and our download page.

PSF currently have two calendars in place, Python Events Calendar - meant for conferences and larger gatherings focusing on Python or a related technology , Python User Group Calendar - meant for user group events and other smaller local events. Check the calender for events nearby or update it.

In the near future Apache httpd 2.4.11 is about to be released and if you are using mod_wsgi versions 4.4.0-4.4.5, will cause mod_wsgi to crash if you are using daemon mode. Read this post if applicable.

Our students learned enough python and chemistry that they were able to write their own relatively complex quantum chemistry code, apply it to their own problems of interest, and then interpret the results. This was a huge win! .

But it’s easy to lose your way, running out of time or patience as you struggle through the dense undergrowth of learning possibilities. In this post I want to share all the tricks I discovered that will make your Django tests run very quickly (at the time of this writing I have a suite of 250 tests that has been tuned to run in ~5 seconds rather than ~50 seconds of the untuned version… that’s 10 times faster!).
