Senior Back End Developer (Python)

As our first dedicated Senior Python Developer you will be responsible for the development of all server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to all incoming requests. 

You will help drive our Back End Engineering development strategy from day one, reporting to the CTO.

You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application; therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is required too.

In addition you will assist in the deployment and architecture of the solution. 

The Candidate

This is a position that allows individuals to create and deliver innovative products. This candidate must work well within a small team but the responsibilities will be clear and defined.

Role Responsibilities

Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications and services

Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code

Implementation of security and data protection

Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic

Monitoring and performance

Peer review


Expert in Python

Familiarity with some ORM (Object Relational Mapper) libraries (SQLAlchemy)

Able to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system

Knowledge of user authentication and authorisation between multiple systems, servers, and environments

Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application

Familiarity with event-driven programming in Python

Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes

Strong unit test and debugging skills

Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git)

Proficient in server architecture (Virtualised Debian)
