Overview

This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of the most prestigious technology teams in systematic trading. We're looking for quantitative trading systems developers with a genuine passion for technology to work closely with a range of hedge fund professionals, including quantitative analysts, traders and operations officers, in order to ensure that leading edge technology keeps the business at the forefront of its field.

The demands of this role are varied and range from implementing advanced trading models, pricing functions, high performance data acquisition, storage and retrieval systems, cluster-computing API’s, numerical algorithms, portfolio construction and risk modelling libraries, visualisation and reporting tools and operational user interfaces.

Requirements

Technology and Business Skills

Essential

  • Exceptional technology skills; recognised by your peers as an expert in your domain
  • A proponent of strong collaborative software engineering techniques and methods: agile development, continuous integration, code review or pairing, unit testing, refactoring and related approaches
  • Expert knowledge in one or more programming languages e.g. Python, Java, C/C++
  • Proficient on Linux platforms with knowledge of various scripting languages
  • Strong knowledge of one or more relevant database technologies e.g. Oracle, MongoDB, KDB/OneTick
  • Proficient with a range of open source frameworks and development tools e.g. NumPy/SciPy/Pandas, Pyramid, AngularJS, Esper, Maven
  • Familiarity with a variety of programming styles (e.g. OO, functional) and in-depth knowledge of design patterns.

Advantageous

  • An excellent understanding of financial markets and instruments
  • Experience of front office software development e.g. in a hedge fund or investment bank
  • Experience of distributed, concurrent processing server-side development and event driven, asynchronous architectures with messaging/market data processing
  • Experience of web based development and visualisation technology for portraying large and complex data sets and relationships
  • An advanced level of relevant mathematical knowledge e.g. statistics, time-series analysis, asset pricing theory, optimisation algorithms.
